Eileen M. Stiglmeier comes to the Colwell Law Group after running a solo practice for 12 years.  Eileen has a broad range of experience in both civil and criminal arenas.  While Eileen concentrates her practice in Matrimonial and Family Law, she has had the opportunity to assist clients in surrogate’s court proceedings, contract negotiations, civil litigation and landlord-tenant matters.  Ms. Stiglmeier has also represented clients in criminal and other non-family related litigation in many city, town, and county courts within the state.  She also brings a unique experience having represented many same-sex couples in matters concerning custody, adoption, support and Article 78 partition actions.  Eileen is a seasoned litigator and staunch negotiator.  Representing both children and adults as assigned counsel, she has gained an appreciation for affording all litigants zealous representation regardless of social status.  As a former court-appointed attorney for children who are subjects in family court and divorce cases, Eileen has the uncanny ability to develop a fair and reasonable custody arrangement that serves the best interests of the children without sacrificing the critical relationship the children have with each parent.  Eileen is entrusted with the supervision and mentoring of the legal team.

Eileen offers our clients insight that is unique and critical to the negotiation process.  Her diverse background as not only a solo practitioner but also as a private sector business manager allows her to create a practical and fair strategy to the resolution of client matters.  Eileen’s direct experience as a manager of over 200 union employees at United Parcel Service in Parsippany, New Jersey lends itself to her professional demeanor which has earned her high esteem and reputation in the legal community.

Eileen graduated from The College of St. Rose cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management followed by a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the Albany County Bar Association.  Eileen is a lifelong resident of the capital district and loves the New York Yankees and New York Giants! You may even see her refereeing a basketball game around town.
